As Spring weather heats up in my part of the world, I’m keen to make lighter, smaller wearables that will last me until November when I can break out the scarves and sweaters for a few short months. One of these staples is the crop top, which I never wore in my youth because I was too afraid of my own body, but as I get older and care less about what other people think – I am happy to pair a little shirt with some big ol’ high waisted jeans, and a light cardigan. You still won’t see me in any bikini tops any time soon, but a crop top? My self esteem can just about manage it.
Today’s pattern comes from Carrie, who posted this lovely somewhat-modest crop top for free on her blog Crochet with Carrie. I used whatever yarn I had on hand, which happened to be Caron Simply Soft Tweed, making this a pretty cozy looking crop. The little picot detailing along the bottom edge makes this top quite pretty, and it’s a good Spring to Summer transition piece and a regular part of my wardrobe.
