I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again: everyone needs dishcloths! These patterns are based around the double crochet stitch, which is one of the basics, but can be modified in many different ways. *Note: If you want these to come out as 7in by 7in, please do a little gauge swatch beforehand. I know I crochet a lot looser than most people and I don’t want you to end up with tiny dishcloths.

Crossed Doubles Dishcloth
Materials:
-Yarn Bee I Love This Cotton (Antique Gold)
Abbreviations (US terms):
CH – chain
DC – double crochet
SK – skip stitch
Skill Level:
Easy
Gauge:
13 stitches x 6 rows = 4” x 4” of crossed double crochets
Pattern notes:
This pattern uses a special stitch called the Crossed Double Crochet. If you’re not familiar with it (or if you just need a refresher) check out this video.
The finished dishcloth should measure 7in by 7in. I crochet looser than many people, so make a gauge swatch.
Blocking is recommended.
Pattern
CH 26
Row 1: DC in 3rd CH from hook, DC across.
Row 2: CH2, turn. SK first stitch, DC in next stitch, DC in skipped stitch. *SK next stitch, DC in skipped stitch*. Repeat from * to * until last two stitches, DC in last two stitches.
Alternated rows 1 and 2 until row 11, ending with a row of DCs. Fasten off, weave in ends.
Offset V-Stitch Dishcloth
Materials:

Abbreviations (US terms):
CH – chain
DC – double crochet
SK – skip
V-stitch – DC, CH1, DC all in one stitch

Gauge:
13 stitches x 7 rows = 4”x4” of double crochet

Pattern
CH 25
Row 1: DC in 4th chain from hook, CH1, SK 2 stitches, V-stitch, *SK 2 stitches, V-stitch*, repeat from * to * until last 3 stitches. SK 1 stitch, DC in last 2 stitches.
Row 2: CH3, turn. SK stitch, V-stitch, SK 2 stitches. *V-stitch, SK 2 stitches*, repeat from * to * across until last three stitches. SK one stitch, DC in last stitch and DC in turning chain.
Row 3: CH3, turn. SK stitch, DC, CH1, *SK 2 stitches, V-stitch*, repeat from * to * across until last three stitches. SK 2 stitches, DC in last stitch, DC in turning chain.
Alternate rows 2 and 3 until row 12.
Fasten off, weave in ends.
Granny Square Dishcloth
Materials:

Abbreviations (US terms):
CH – chain
DC – Double Crochet
SL – slip stitch
ST – stitch

12 stitches x 6 rows = 4” x 4” of double crochet
Pattern notes:

Blocking is recommended.
Pattern
Start with a magic ring.
Round 1: CH3, 2 DC in magic ring. *CH2, 3dc* repeat twice from * to *. Join with SL to CH3 (counts as a dc here and throughout the pattern) (12 sts)
Round 2: CH3, 2 DC, [2 DC, CH 2, 2 DC] all in CH 2 space. *3 DC, [2 DC, CH 2, 2 DC] all in CH 2 space*, repeat twice from * to *, join with SL ST to CH3. (28 sts)
Round 3: CH3, 4 DC, [2 DC, CH 2, 2 DC] all in CH 2 space. *7 DC, [2 DC, CH 2, 2 DC] all in CH 2 space*, repeat twice from * to *. 2 DC, join with SL ST to first CH3. (44 sts)
Round 4: CH 3, 6 DC, [2 DC, CH 2, 2 DC] all in CH 2 space, *11 DC, [2 DC, CH 2, 2 DC] all in CH 2 space*, repeat twice from * to *. 4 DC, join with SL ST to CH3. (60 sts)
Round 5: CH 3, 8 DC, [2 DC, CH 2, 2 DC] all in CH 2 space. *15 DC, [2 DC, CH 2, 2 DC] all in CH 2 space*, repeat twice from * to *. 6 DC, join with SL ST to CH3. (76 sts)
Round 6: CH 3, 10 DC, [2 DC, CH 2, 2 DC] all in CH 2 space. *19 DC, [2 DC, CH 2, 2 DC] all in CH 2 space*, repeat twice from * to *. 8 DC, join with SL ST to CH 3. (92 sts)
Fasten off, weave in ends.
